On a Mission

We are on a mission to enable Smart Communities through the introduction of technology & education that enables community administrators to spend more time impacting and engaging with the community they serve, and less time administering it.

Our Story

Scribe was originally founded in the 1980s. At that time it was specifically providing accounts software (windows desktop software) for small town and parish councils. This business ran as a “1 man” business for 30 years.
In 2017 our Founder and Chairman Tim O'Shea was on the search for interesting digital businesses to acquire.  He was continuing his search for small software businesses to acquire,  adding to his existing portfolio of businesses acquired in the UK & USA.
He came upon Scribe and shortly acquired it thereafter  He put a small team together (Jane Dafforn, Wayne Taylor, Hannah Driver, Jade Hoods) to run Scribe, together they added a cloud version of scribe accounts, and over the next couple of years acquired new and migrated existing customers to the new platform.
During the pandemic Tim had some spare time and began to focus on Scribe again, growing the team and building other products (venue bookings, cemetery)  which service Town and Parish Councils.

Our Vision and Mission

Our vision is to enable Smart Communities through the introduction of technology & education that enables community administrators to spend more time impacting and engaging with the community they serve, and less time administering it.

Scribe is focused on serving Town and Parish Councils in the UK by providing easy to use, compliant, cloud-based software and expert training for administering financial accounts, venue bookings and cemetery processes.
Today, Scribe is the fastest growing SaaS (Software as a Service) company operating in the local government sector.
